Vysotsk is located 160 km west of St Petersburg on the Gulf of Finland. In 2002 Lukoil launched the project for a new oil terminal on Vysotsk Island.
The 3 jetty terminal is built by the consortium Fluor Daniel Euresia (US) and Lukoil Neftegastroi. To support the jetties 180 piles, 1350 mm diameter had to be drilled under harsh conditions.
The job was executed by DDC with the Wirth PBA 810/2000 with hydraulically driven power swivel using a separate power-pack. For continuous removal of soil the reversed airlift drilling method was used.
For transportation to the site the PBA 810 and auxiliary equipment was dismantled and put on several trucks and transported by road.
