Lynn & Inner Dowsing
- North Sea
- Mono pile
- PBA 936
In 2007, MTHojgaard as main contractor installed 54 foundations for the Lynn and Inner Dowsing Offshore Windfarm. It is located in the Solway Firth on the Scottisch side of the Scottisch/English Border.
The 180 MW windfarm is one of the largest in the UK. Foundations for the 54 turbines were installed by the Resolution during 2007. The geology has meant that some drilling was needed for the monopile to reach the desired design depth.
In case of early refusal drilling techniques of DDC were used to allow the pile to be driven to the final depth. The Wirth PBA 936 off DDC has been actively involved with a drillbit of 4400mm diameter. This PBA 936 is hydraulically driven by a Power pack and works with the reverse air lift drilling principal.
